How It Works
We Start with a Free Consultation
I always start with a free phone consultation so I can learn more about your situation, what you are seeking, and so you may experience a little of what it may be like to work with me. If you are on a family-building journey and are not sure if you would be best served by therapy or consultation, we can sort that out together. If we decide it makes sense to meet, we schedule a first appointment from there.
Fees and Insurance
Please inquire about my current fees during our intitial consulation call. I use a HIPAA compliant platform for payment that accepts credit and HSA cards. I am not on any insurance panels though I am happy to provide a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance non-network benefit to seek reimbursement. I cannot guarantee reimbursement from your insurance carrier.
Sliding Scale
I do hold some sliding scale counseling appointments in my schedule for appointments before 5:00pm. Please let me know if you need one. If my lower fee spaces are filled I am happy to talk with you in order to provide referrals that will meet your needs. When thinking about a sliding scale together, I like to reference this wonderful framework developed by Worts and Cunning Apothecary.
Scheduling
Commitment and continuity are important in therapy for it to work. If we decide to work together we will agree on a specific time and day each week that will be your time that I will hold for you only. I only consider an every other week format if a client is nearing the end of treatment and we are winding down. I find that in the working phase of treatment meeting less than once weekly only slows down the work and makes it more difficult to maintain momentum. In my experience, biweekly is likely more expensive for the client in the long run. The typical session is 50 minutes long. If relevant, particularly if working through trauma, we sometimes consider occasionally scheduling a longer session to facilitate the work.
